Jang Han Jong and His Painting Crab

Jang Han Jong and His Painting Crab

Jang Han Jong (1768-1815), one of the distinguished artists in the days of the feudal Joson dynasty, excelled in painting pictures of such aquatic animals as fish and crabs. He was also well versed in painting portraits and landscapes.

As he was in an intimate relationship with Kim Hong Do, a progressive painter of realistic tendency, Jang painted many excellent pictures less of which have been handed down to posterity.
