In May Juche 101 (2012) he visited the renovated Pyongyang Children’s Department Store in Changjon Street and gave instructions on laying out not only counters but a children’s play area.
In November 2012 he looked round the People’s Open-Air Ice Rink just prior to inauguration. After feasting his eyes on the skating children, he beckoned them.
Patting their cheeks, he asked them one by one how old they were and if they liked skating. He was so caring that they importuned him to have a photograph taken with them.
With a broad smile on his face, he had a photograph taken with them.
On January 1, 2015 after delivering his New Year Address, he visited the Pyongyang Baby Home and Orphanage.
He had instructed to build them on the picturesque bank of the Taedong River.
That day, he embraced orphans one by one and spent much time with them, enjoying their new year performance.
He cherishes the ennobling view on the rising generation that he has nothing more to wish for even though his body may be scattered like the grains of sand on the road for the good of children. So, he did not mind slopping along muddy roads to visit the construction site of children’s hospital and took measures to supply fish for orphans, calculating its quantity on his pocketbook on the bleak seashore.
With warm affection for children, he read all the letters they wrote after practicing alphabets, clumsy as they were, and replied to them with his autograph.
