Mother’s Day Celebrated in DPRK

 

Mother’s Day was celebrated significantly across the country.

The Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, the supreme sanctuary of Juche where President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il are preserved in their lifetime appearance, drew endless streams of visitors with strong yearning of all the mothers and their sons and daughters across the country for them.

At the plaza park, the visitors recollected the immortal revolutionary exploits of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il and paid the noblest tribute to the smiling portraits of the peerlessly great men.

Many people visited the statues of the President and the Chairman on Mansu Hill and their statues and smiling portraits in other parts of the country to lay bouquets and flowers and pay tribute to them.

Officials of the Central Committee of the Socialist Women’s Union of Korea and other officials of the women’s union across the country visited baby homes and orphanages and the women who gave birth to many children, and enjoyed the holiday together with them.

Performances were given at theatres in the capital city of Pyongyang.

Songs of congratulations to mothers resounded across the country.

The Mansudae Art Troupe gave a music and dance performance at the East Pyongyang Grand Theatre, the National Symphony Orchestra, a concert at the Moranbong Theatre, and the National Acrobatic Troupe, an acrobatic performance at the Pyongyang Circus Theatre.

The Phibada Opera Troupe and the National Folk Art Troupe gave performances respectively in front of the Pyongyang Grand Theatre and at the plaza of the Arch of Triumph.

Artistes and schoolchildren in North Phyongan, Jagang and South Hamgyong provinces, Nampho and Kaesong cities and other parts of the country gave performances.

Bases for cultural and leisure activities in Pyongyang and other parts of the country resounded with the merry laughter of mothers and their children.
