Ice Sculpture Festival-2018 Underway

The Ice Sculpture Festival-2018 for celebrating the birth anniversary of Chairman Kim Jong Il is now underway with splendor in Samjiyon County at the foot of Mt Paektu since February 4.

The shock brigade members of the regiment of the Ministry of People's Security of the 618 Construction Brigade of the 216 Division created more than 2 000 pieces of ice sculptures to put them on display.

Displayed at the centre of the festival venue is the portrait of smiling Kim Jong Il against the background of Mt Paektu and Jong Il Peak, and sculptures depicting immortal flower Kimjongilias, trees bearing slogans and other sculptures.

Some sculptures portrayed a people-bound train showing Kim Jong Il's long journey of patriotic devotion and a thriving orchard, mass-production of Vinalon, Royal azaleas on Chol Pass and other objects as well as the looks of Samjiyon County turning into an icon county of the country.

Displayed there are sculptures making vivid and peculiar portrayal of new-type trucks and tractors developed by Korean workers and proud change of Sepho Tableland, works showing the history of gold mountain, gold field and gold sea, and animal sculptures.
