National Pride ― Octagonal 13-Storeyed Pagoda of Pohyon Temple in Mt. Myohyang
Octagonal 13-Storeyed Pagoda of Pohyon Temple in Mt. Myohyang is one of old pagodas built in the last of Koryo Dynasty era.
The pagoda consists of a three-storeyed pedestal, lotus pattern base, 13-storeyed body and a head.
The 13-storeyed octagonal pagoda of Pohyon Temple retains an admirable artistic technique of stone structure in the Middle Ages of Korea, which was erected smoothly with delicately-trimmed granite and decorations.
Thanks to the policies of the Workers' Party of Korea and the government of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea on preserving cultural relics, the pagoda, one of the excellent pagodas among the historical remains, is in good preservation.
